Day 4 a little bumpy

Started this morning so positive, but all the new meds and poor appetite led to a miserable morning. Nausea and lightheadedness were worse than the pain. They tell me that’s just how it goes early on. Not everyday will be a positive step, but eventually I’ll get there. Going to try and motivate myself in a little while. Haven’t been able to do any laps yet today. Thanks for all the comments; they’re helping tremendously. More later. Enjoy your moments.

  1. Mike, Keep up the positive thoughts. You’ve made some amazing progress since Monday. It will get better every day you get further away from the surgery and closer to a full recovery.

  2. Mike, we hope you feel better and have more good days around the corner. Hopefully the rough times will lessen as you continue to mend. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

  3. I’m sure the unevenness is frustrating, but I guess that’s how the process goes. Sounds to us like you are doing so well! Hang in there.

  4. Thanks for all of the updates, it’s great to hear how things are going without having to burden Kathy with tons of calls. I’m sure there will be ups and downs, but as long as the trend is in the right direction, that’s progress. Please let us know if there is anything we can do, including delivering decent food to the hospital. When I was in after my c-section a friend delivered some good soup from Corky and Lenny’s and it was the best day ever.

  5. Hang in there big guy. You are on the mend. I am in D.C. spending your tax money. Will see you Saturday. Need to plan our Cavs tickets. We have the even home games

  6. Also. Talked to Siegel. He will set up golf date in the Spring with Markowitz. So get better

  7. It’s interesting following your daily update, and I have found that you have a wonderful family and friends. Last Thursday you performed cataract surgery on me, and I really couldn’t find the words to thank you properly. Yesterday while reading your blog you spoke of your doctor with my exact thoughts of you! “You are so caring, meticulous, brilliant, and available. I can’t imagine any other surgeon doing as good a job.” My wife and I will continue to pray for your quick and total recovery. Talk to my special friend and you will be home in no time!

    • Thanks Sam. Hope your eyes are still recovering well. See you in a few months. You are in good hands with the rest of our eye team.

  8. Mike, I got the marathon pics back today, where I’m proudly wearing the St. Michael medallion you lent me. I thought about you during the race; it was a real motivator in tough conditions. So I need to return the favor. You’re doing great, and yes, we know there are more bad days ahead. You will face frustrations. Little things will seem major. But you tackled this thing head-on, and I know you’ll bring that same spirit to your recovery. It’s step-by-step, so keep fighting and getting better each day.

  9. Oh, Michael, so sorry for the crummy day! No fair. But I think the ups and downs are probably to be expected. I can’t tell the time of your last post, but hopefully, by now you have had some relief at least from the nausea. Were you able to do a lap or two tonight?
Sounds like you’ve got people lining up to challenge you in golf, bocce and pool, so you have no choice but to get up and outta there. Speaking of which, thanks for all the pointers you offered at the table at 3300 last week. My game was really embarrassing. I’d better get down to the bar and practice so I’m ready when I’m back in town. Maybe with your new and improved heart, you’re going to be like the six million dollar man and beat us all at everything. I mean really, Mike, the level of energy at which you’ve been operating at for the past 44 years is already beyond normal. With your new heart, you’ll probably gonna blow us all away!
